Episode Four: Allison Weiss

The first thing you notice about Allison Weiss is her red horn-rimmed glasses, then the energy that overcomes her face when she speaks—and suddenly you are hooked by the upbeat and perky words that spill from her mouth. And her music mirrors this personality, too, with simple, catchy lyrics accompanied by an indie-pop sound.

Episode Three: Jeremy Wheatley

Jeremy Wheatley grew up listening to his father’s country records and Casey Kasem’s Top 40. A drummer since his tenth Christmas, his first gig came from ousting a member of his older brother’s classic rock cover band. Eventually becoming a student at the University of Georgia, he majored in performance percussion, though his roommates initially discouraged a formal education in music. He also happens to be the decentest person you'll meet in the Athens music scene.

Episode One: Madeline

Madeline Adams, a native Athenian, played her first show at the X-Ray Cafe when she was 15. Her solo records, starting with Kissing and Dancing (2002) and evolving through The Slow Bang (2007), are the story of an artist mixing punk sensibilities with a natural talent for folk songwriting. White Flag (2009), is a refinement of that theme, a set of transportive melodies laid on music that relies on both a traditional Southern sound and the work ethic of a touring band.
