Episode Four: Allison Weiss
December 05th
Everything about her is not written down
2009
The first thing you notice about Allison Weiss is her red horn-rimmed glasses, then the energy that overcomes her face when she speaks—and suddenly you are hooked by the upbeat and perky words that spill from her mouth. And her music mirrors this personality, too, with simple, catchy lyrics accompanied by an indie-pop sound.
Heralded as Athens’s DIY-artist that started in a small coffee shop when she first arrived in town, Allison self-released the entirely acoustic An Eight-Song Tribute in 2007. Through the past few years she has managed to balance being a student with an audacious music career, touring on weekends, breaks, and summers. Her newest album, Allison Weiss Was Right All Along, was released on November 24 and features a fuller sound and two fan-selected tracks.
Eager to hit the Big Apple, Allison Weiss has only a semester left in school until she can focus solely on her music career. But do not be deceived, she is much more than a musician; this 22-year-old is an avid blogger, a social network connoisseur, and also a graphic designer.
In this episode: Allison Weiss, Kevin Devine, Laura Veirs, Loudon Wainwright III, Tegan and Sara.
Next episode: Gordon Lamb, maker of threats and promises.
